Now that there was a barbeque, however...
He located the bar setup in short order and found that there was even a special "Derrick-tini" just for him, with two olive eyes and a twist of licorice for a mouth. Spotting Genius and the rather orgasmic look on his face, he made sure to approach his twin from the front so as not to scare him.

Genius was chewing on some BBQ chicken when Derrick showed up. He waved happily to his man twin and then patted the picnic bench to indicate that Derrick should sit down with him.
"Der--you gotta try this chicken! Or the clam bake. Or anything I dunno I'm in heaven--especially after suffering camp food for a week. This is all amazing!"

There were a lot of things he'd never seen before; he would have to try some of them eventually. For now, he settled for some kind of round meat not unlike a large, very plump hot dog, to munch on as he kept walking.
Still... something about the food nagged at him.

He paused, cocking his head, as he spotted Cloud. He'd spied the man about now and then, and was rather sure they'd shared a campsite, though not a fire, on occasion. Maybe it was time to give a proper greeting. He stepped a little closer, hooded spear balanced easily against one shoulder.
"You reckon it's all free for the taking, then?" He inclined his head in acknowledgment. "I've seen you about sometimes. Don't stick around one place for long, you either?"

"Seems to be, and I haven't died of poison yet." He indicated what he meant by lifting his right hand slightly, where he held a stick on which some chunks of grilled meat had been skewered. He'd been snacking most of the morning on different foods scattered around the tables, so he wasn't having much for lunch. "Not usually, though there are a limited number of places where a person can sleep safe and dry." Cloud tilted his head to one side slightly, eying the other man thoughtfully. "Your face looks familiar, but I'm afraid I can't put a name to it."

"And if someone's gone to the trouble of clearing out a place for a fire, might as well avail yourself of it?" He raised a mild eyebrow. "I agree, mind, especially as I'm sure you've saved me the work more than once."
He bowed his head, now more comfortable with this variation of a greeting. "I'm Hawk, for now at least. Pleased to meet you."

A few blinks, and then she laughed. Oh, this would be good. She had to wonder if he would show. Would he want a slice of cake? Another laugh, and she finished crawling out of the hole she had appeared from.
She crept close to the cake, sneaking behind trees with audible laughs that defeated the whole purpose of the sneaking entirely. She stepped close to the table and pulled a large knife from seemingly nowhere, ready to take it to the cake, before she paused. She turned to the small group that has assembled and raised her voice, yelling as loud as she could.
"CAKE!!!"

Of course, patience wasn't exactly her strong suit, so she began bouncing from her left foot to her right chanting "Cake cake cake cake." in a staccato rhythm while she waited for her change to cram some of that sugary frosting down her gullet.

And then she carved into the cake. It was bright red on the inside and oozed out a thick red goop. She laughed. Red velvet with raspberry filling, it was!
She grabbed a plate from beside the cake and dropped a large slice on it, grinning.
"Bed-jumping fuel! How high can you go?"

The redness and goopiness didn't deter her, she intended to eat as much of the cake as she could get her hands on. Starting with this piece right here.
Taking a big forkful of the cake, Blood made happy noises as she thought about the question that had been put to her.
"That's right, I'm an awesome bed-jumper! I can touch the ceiling!"

And besides. Food is food is food.
So he tied his hair up, left the apartment, and now he's sitting at the edge of one the picnic benches, far away from the fire pit. He has a plate of miscellaneous foods next to him, and he seems.. pretty content to just watch whatever's going on near the center of the entire thing.

Stomach full, Chivalry decided to head home for the evening and made to leave. He strolled passed an occupied bench, stilling and doing a double take at the woman? No...A man. His interest instantly waned; a scowl of distaste curled his lips down over a lit cigarette.
"Geez...Men shouldn't look like..." The rest is muttered too low to be fully caught.

"Che." A faint scoff. Though, looking over, one would see him frowning at one of the oddly shaped breadstuffs before taking a bite. It didn't particularly bother him to be mistaken for the opposite gender. It was just. Annoying.

Still, she couldn't keep away from the barbecue. And she did have to admit that the food did smell good. With all the cleanup and extra Guard shifts she'd been busy with in the wake of the hurricane, the idea of a lunch she didn't have to cook or clean up after did have an appeal.
She wandered around, munching some raw carrot sticks. Creepy or not, a whole lot of people had turned up for this. I wonder how many of them were here during the fire? That as much as the food probably accounted for it. Krile wondered what she ought to think of it, really. It was just ( ... )

He approached a table and noticed a cake next to a hamburger. It was weird, but he didn't recognize the faces at first. Then, he saw a dish filled with waffles of all things, but that was when the face finally caught his attention. He carefully picked up one of the waffles to examine it closer.
"It is... this is Aurora's face..." He looked further down the table to try to see what was going on, but saw Cara - Krile - staring as well.
"Hey!" Smoke called out, using the waffle to indicate the table of food. "Do you know what's up with this food?"

She walked over to get a better look, telling herself that it wasn't to avoid a more careful inspection of those vegetarian shishkebabs that she'd just noticed. "Um..." she managed, looking at the burgers. That was Medium, wasn't it? Oh goodness. She quickly looked at the remains of her carrot stick, but if there had been a face there, it was already gone.
"...This is creepy," she said, finding that her appetite was rapidly deserting her.

None of it even looked like it could be cooked over a fire well, but that's when another dish finally caught his interest, since it had sticks in the chocolate-covered items. He picked up one of them and was about to taste it when he saw the face on that as well. He didn't drop it, but he did clench it tight in his hands and his face changed to match.
"I think I can agree with that."
