Summary: Drake gets the most ridiculously baffling hatching occurrence of his life.
This might not have actually been hell, but it couldn't have been far from it.
Drake had gone completely radio-silent on the journals in the wake of the bloody page fiasco. He had multiple reasons for that, not the least of which was that he really didn't much feel like talking to people. Seriously now. Nothing like being 99.99% sure that your best friend just turned into a blood splat to make you incredibly antisocial. He'd blown off some of the tension -- his temporary roommate had a really disturbingly impressive way of getting him distracted thanks to the occasional really horrifyingly eye-rollingly bad pun or something of that nature -- but that didn't change that he was still not at his best.
He'd still been coming to work, though; working only the shifts he was normally assigned to and staying almost wholly out of sight while doing it. He knew Fugue knew he was around; he slipped in and out at the strangest hours, checking on things. He was so not going to be absent when Certain Things happened, so he was constantly sneaking out of the house, checking, then sneaking back in. He'd probably made Want jump right out of his shoes more than once by crawling in through the bedroom window along the ceiling.
At the moment he was lurking, tucked off into one of the few shadows around the Hall, all in black which made him that much harder to spot. Still watching, still waiting...still hoping, still stressed. He'd be that way until things went back to 'normal'. Inasmuch as anything was normal around here, which wasn't much.
