I heart Temeraire

I just finished Victory of Eagles, the Temeraire book that came out last July.  (If you like fantasy and alternative history and haven't yet discovered these, run forthwith to find His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik.)  I loved it -- probably my favorite to date of the so-far five-book series.

I loved the book, especially because she took things in a direction I didn't anticipate. The choices that Lawrence makes, and how Temeraire reacts -- it's really pretty dark.

And I loved Jane's reaction when she sees Lawrence again. "Thank you so much for making me look like a girl, oh, and you idjit, don't you understand we would have gotten the mushroom to France the quiet way?"

I wanted to hiss every time we passed Wellington's house!

Exactly! And I didn't catch on to what character was going to be named Lord Wellington, which shows my ignorance of that period of history.
