I completely forgot to write and update on how things went in court last Monday. No I didn't go to jail, or get a fine, or any of the things I was afraid of. When the judge saw that I had paid off my past due balance, she dropped the contempt of court charges, and that was that. So everything is fine. Jim is still refusing to pay my child support

I agree. When he married her, he also married all of her children and past debts... as she did when she married him. If he didn't want to be responsible for them, then he shouldn't have married her. That's how marriages go. You marry the WHOLE person, not just the part you want to.
