That feeling you get in the pit of your stomach, when you find a teeny ERROR in something already sent out on submission, makes you want to barf, doesn't it?
Yes, I know what you mean. I saw something like that in a submission just a day or two ago that was already sent out.
But I try to be careful about being too hard on myself about it. These things happen, and while they're irritating, one thing like that from a professional writer isn't going to sink the story's chances. If an editor likes a story he will see things like this that need correcting and recognize them for what they are: a little mistake.
If an editor isn't captured by your story, then no amount of manuscript perfection will ever sway his mind.
I hate when that happens. Sometimes I am in a hurry and though I proofread it myself a couple of times I send it out and then read it over during that moment of relief knowing you made it for the deadline. That's when I see that hideous typo that I didn't see before. I think clicking on send is the biggest cause of typos for me.
I was getting quite swell-headed about having sent out a novel manuscripts with absolutely no errors. Even my agent said it was perfect. Then I got the actual book in my hands and found a typo that could not possibly have been in the original manuscript, right? Wrong. And I went over that sucker dozens of times.
Happens to all of us, and an editor won't penalize you for a measly error or two. Don't waste your barf!
