I have to say, the first time I saw The Empty Child I was pretty darn freaked out. I think the moment that got me the most was the phone-in-the-house scene. I'm pretty sure I was holding my breath when the Doctor opened the door. :D The typewriter scene was another freaky moment for me. So...

I was simply freaked out the entire episode, and grinning like a loon over that fact. It's rare that I'm actually scared for more than a brief moment... Even the Angels can only get me to jump once or twice. But the Empty Child had me shivering the entire episode... Loved it.

I think I was spoiled by this episode. I keep wanting to be freaked out again like this in DW, but it just hasn't happened. (Blink came the closest.)

Oh, it took me ages to be able to hear "are you my mummy?" without shivering!

...probably until I saw The Poison Sky, now I think about it.

I was so freaked out the first time I saw the 1st part that I deleted it from my computer as soon as I finished it! lol
It got better with the 2nd part as everything ends well!
But yeah basically, I was totally scared! I can't even imagine what it would have been if I were a kid!

I'm not really a hide-behind-the-sofa kind of gal. TV just doesn't do that to me, but I did think this ep was creepy and it definitely would have scared me big time if it had been happening in real life.
