I’m an old school Who fan. An old school fan who rates RTD. An old school fan who thinks Rose and the Doctor’s relationship with her is nothing short of iconic television. I even thought that Martha was pretty cool by the end of S3. Given all the bobbins I read around the internets from time to time, I think that these statements put me into quite

The thing that makes me a Who fan above all else, as well as a fan of British science fiction television in particular is that at it’s heart you will always find wonderful, dry, childish, tongue in cheek humour.
I'm quoting becuase I couldn't have said it better myself. =)

You gotta love that cheeky, dry humor that litters the show. :D
Camille Coudri. I cannot begin to explain how much I rate her performance and how much I love Jackie Tyler. My mum is obviously the best mum in the world, but Jackie Tyler is up there with the best. Even if she slaps Nine. Bless her.
She does Jackie absolutely perfect - I completely believe and can even empathize with the distress/concern/worry/fear about Rose.
Yes fellow rewatchers, the Doctor has fallen. Hook, line and sinker.
That basically sums it up. And I think with that line of his, he knows it.

I love that woman. So much.
And I think with that line of his, he knows it.
We know Eccles is the king of the meaningful look, but it really really shows in his face from that point forwards, even when she shoves him her rucksack. In fact I think you did a spot on picspam of that very moment!

*happy sigh* That he has.
This show is awesome isn't it?
Oh it most definitely is!
I recently vacationed in London with a bunch of friends who met due to our mutual obsession with V4V. Quite a few of them are also obsessed with DW. Although aware of the old show (I remember seeing snippets as a child) I was unaware that it had been refreshed. Through the awesomeness of Netflix, I have now seen all of season 1 and am starting season 2.
Ironically I had just finished season 1 when I stumbled across this group. Boy am I glad I found it! Through your posts I realized how much I missed the first time through, and how much I picked up on without realizing.
Looking forward to future posts, and who knows. . .maybe I'll end up posting a review or two myself!
guess that means I better start paying attention to my livejournal again, huh?

I'm in a niche? Coool... :P
He’s such a fanboy, he knew he had to have some naff aliens that would make us giggle inappropriately, adult and child alike.
Really, in comparison to some many of the Classic Who aliens, the Slitheen were really not that naff (nothing wrong with a good fart joke!)...well...maybe a bit naff. :P (At least they didn't look like this!)

SO with you there. I giggle hysterically. Every time. :D
Rose is so brave. She's 19 years old and she understands that she might loose her life for the sake of the Planet. And she agrees.
Brave and capable. I love the way she took charge with Harriet Jones. Even in S1, she makes *such* a good partner for the Doctor.
But really, this double header for me is about the Ship. It’s about how much the Doctor’s guilt shows when he realises he’s landed the TARDIS badly and impacted Rose’s earth timeline so massively; It’s about Rose convincing him to sit in a house and watch Television; It’s about the TARDIS key scene.
Yeah. I think this is the episode where you have to sit up straighter and realize that the writers are trying to sell us something.
