When I had been awakened by my alarm,
I was scared.
To loose you
is the worst thing
that could ever happen to me.
So I got up,
calling your driver.
When we arrived at your place
and you stepped out
I wanted to sob with relief.
When you cupped my cheek
and smiled at me
I wanted to kiss you so badly.
However, I don't mind just sitting next to you.
You are discussing with your “boss” at the phone.
I can sense your whole body tensing up.
You always do.
I am scooting over and lay my hands on you shoulders slowly.
You twitch and glance at me but I just smile and wink.
You concentrate on your call again and turn your back a bit towards me.
Gently I massage your shoulders and I wonder how easy it suddenly is.
Not that I mind but
what made you trust me now?
Your shoulders relax and your voice changes.
No one would notice if not having analyzed it for more than a year now.
When you hung up you stay quiet,
leaning back against me and staring out of the window.
Then,
after a while,
your soft voice reaches my ear.
It says that you hope I know how hard you try.
And when I ask what you are trying,
the car stops in front of work.
You look at me shortly,
our faces inches apart.
My breath is stuck in my throat.
Your eyes pleading mine to understand,
then you whisper.
To protect you.
