I feel extra sorry for waitstaff (and other on-your-feet-all-day) jobs now, because my calves are killing me, and while I did some walking, I don't think it was that much more than typical--about 3 miles (5 km). It was the other being on my feet that made the difference I think

Re: your glasses - Do you have any kind of specialty requirements for yours? Because a thing that blew my mind this year was learning about buying glasses on the internet. After years of spending $400+ per pair, with insurance, because my eyes are so bad, I bought a pair of glasses - frames and lenses - from Warby Parker. They're normally $100 even, but mine were $130 because I had to get the special thin lenses because my prescription is so high. But there are places you can get them even cheaper:
