Okay. So let's discuss a few topics. Album Covers + Martketing + Regional Packaging.
In particular the new album cover artwork drawn by Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquillity.

hmmm, I think I can point out a few albums where the cover appealed to me and not the album, like the first album by The 69 Eyes "Blessed Be" and some case where the cover didn't really appeal to me but the album still do, like, huh, the Limb Music Compilation named Louder than the dragon, I guess

Ha! I remember 69 Eyes. They definitely had some raw / sleazy album covers. Never really got into them though. But you can always find a CD by them at the used record store that I frequent.

But well, a lot of the bands that are into the Louder than the dragon are stuff I still listen nowadays :) and The 69 Eyes, it's so slow and boring, boy did I make a mistake to trust the cover :p
As for the stuff I grew to appreciate, some of the "classic" metal albums like Slaughter At the souls or some stuff by Morbid Angel I can now appreciate but it took me some years to get used to the harsh vocals and upbeat tempo.

Some "construct"ive feedback you say? ^_^
Things in the US are rather conservative around here. Particularly what is considered art and what is considered too abstract. I agree with your notion regarding being afraid of the unknown.

Lame twisted everyday newschool tattoo.
Ha ha ha ha!

Same here. I like complex images that have a lot to see and digest. Even smokey mist can be interesting if there's a lot of detectable interpretations within the dissonance.

It's .... different. To put it politely. Sometimes it helps to pretend that you're not listening to the actual band to appreciate the craft.
