[The video is switched on - actually switched on as opposed to turned on by community means - and for a second all you can see is a large hand obscuring most of the camera as whoever the hand belongs to adjusts it.]

There, that's better. [That voice might sound awfully familiar to you all - a little hoarse still from disuse, but still familiar. ( Read more... )

...I'm afraid I know nothing about what happened here or what you've missed, but I feel that a 'welcome back' is in order anyway.

So, welcome back.

Thanks. [he flashes a small grin] Suppose I can't expect everyone to keep up with everything that goes on in this mad place, but I was at least hoping for the gossip about the latest viruses or something.

Ah, well, I haven't actually been here for all that long. Viruses themselves are still new to me, but I do recall a few. Red thread between people, souls taking the shape of animals and false beliefs that the victim only has one day to live...

I feel like I should be more surprised by it really.

Red thread's a repeat, but the other two are new. [He sounds almost like he's cataloguing them for future reference, but winces almost imperceptibly at the mention of the last one.] I'm almost glad I was out for that last one, though. Even by community standards, that's cruel.

Azula, hello! [He... looks genuinely pleased to see her. THIS WILL BE HAPPENING A LOT, OKAY] Yeah, looks like it. I mean, well, [gestures to himself] here I am.

[ so doctor i herd u liek tea. look who's been over to the kitchens and made you a cuppa, notdeadnotdad - oh were you busy posting]

Hey, Doctor. I'm not interrupting anything, am I? I figured you could probably go for a tea break.

[Looks up with a smile, one that becomes both delighted and grateful when he spies the cup of tea - HIS TIME LORD SENSES ARE TINGLING TO THE PRESENCE OF FREE RADICALS AND TANNINS IN THE VICINITY]

You, interrupting anything? Never. I was just letting everyone know I was back is all. [peeering, peeeering at the tea hopefully] Is one of those for me?

Ah. [ A sympathetic if slightly sheepish grin, and handing one of the mugs over. ] That's a fun post to make. You'll need the sustenance, although I can't speak for the quality - we don't exactly get best-brand teabags up here. How's it going?

[ ...he could be referring to the post, or to ten's general situation. he's being purposefully neutral on it, really. ]

[A wry smile as he takes the mug and takes a sip] I'll bet you know all about that. And right now, any tea is good tea. I've been deprived.

[He pauses a little before answering that question, shrugging and keeping his voice casual.] Well, no one's been too dramatic about it yet... another me turned up though. A future one, I mean. It's always weird when that happens, because they tend to hold all the cards, and we've got spoilers to think about. [There's a pout - he immensely dislikes not being the one who knows everything. Even if, and he won't voice this, spoilers aren't such a worry for him anymore.] But I'm fine. Doing more than alright, considering.

[He's lying. He doesn't really know it yet, because waking up after being binary is enough to make anyone genuinely relieved, but he's lying.]

hey!
uh, i don't know what counts as good, but if you were out for a month, you probably missed a lot of things.
it's good that you're ok after whatever happened, though!
watch out for the trolls, by the way. they're from my world, so i feel like i should say that.
also um.
wow.
are you... i mean, you said tardis and it's just.
are you the doctor?

[Smiles] Thanks. And I can't say I've ever run into any trolls before, but I'll keep my eyes peeled, so thanks fr the heads-up. And - well, I was the Doctor last time I checked, so unless anything's changed since then... [an odd look briefly passes across his face at that, but it's gone in an instant, before anyone can see. Instead, he just looks thoughtful.] I take it you're from one of the worlds where I'm a TV show, then, or are you just a really good hacker?

they all type in funny ways with different colors, so they're easy to see!

What, you don't mean putting numbers and that weird - what is it you humans call it, leetspeak? - into everything, do you? [wrinkles his nose in distaste] Well, it takes all sorts I guess. On some planets they type with a series of dots arranged into certain very similar concentric patterns that it takes a keen eye to tell the difference between, so one or two typing quirks is pretty tame in comparison.

Ah, thought so. So, you clearly know who I am, so who are you?

Oh look, it's you! Blimey, I was wondering when you'd wake up. Timelords are pretty resilient but even I was wondering how long it'd take to recover from floating around as binary for a while.

[Blink. Blink. Well, meeting yourself is a more common occurrence for the Doctor than for most, but it's still odd when you meet what's obviously a future version of yourself. Especially when said version has been keeping tabs on you. Him. Us.]

Ah. Right. [He soon shakes it off though, offering a wry smile] Well, you know us. Impossible to keep down for long, we are. [Frowns quizzically, trying to place which incarnation this is] Are you the next one along, or...?

[He taps his nose.] Ah but I'd be giving away spoilers, wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

[He frowns, looking intently at the screen as if just by looking he could find all the answers he wanted.]

Since I can't remember ever being converted into binary and I can't remember myself talking to myself through this community, I'd say we're alternate versions of ourselves unless, we've had our memories wiped.

I think you might be right. [There's that awkward neckrub again. He now looks immensely uncomfortable, even moody.] You see, I died. Or well, I was dying. That whole business with the Master, and the Time Lords, at Christmas. You probably remember it, it was a bit of a bad day even for us. But right when the regeneration started instead of winding up as - well, maybe not you, but the next one of us along, I wound up as binary inside the community instead. So, alternates is probably pretty close to the mark.

[Looks at the screen thoughtfully, frowning.] Suppose there's an easier way to tell... don't suppose you remember finding the community as me? Or Tieria, Lockon, Chloe, Jordan and Eva, any of that lot, by any chance?
