Most of us are in NY IP are still taking 4 As because we are given 12 units so actually there's not much of a difference. There are still people taking triple science, although I personally find it crazy.

Oh, that's good. =) Trip science's only drawback is the crazy amount of practicals you'll have to sit, really, if not it's still a pretty good combi.

Just curious. When you said there are many cases of evolution working, what were you referring to? *because I'm under the distinct impression that genuine case of a new species arising from many minute mutations over a very long period of time are rather rare.* Unless you are referring to change within the species that can show up, because of genetic variation and all that.

note: When you refer to case studies, are you referring to change within a species, or gradual change to the point of new species arising? If, that is, one uses the definition of species as a particualr breeding population of something that can only breed among itself, breeding outside producing infertile offspring.

Case Studies for evolution are definitely crocodiles. I think they just found a new fossil. Also, for micro-evolution, there's a lot going on right now... Elephants are increasingly tusk-less, for one. And I think bio there was some moth pigmentation example. Also, dinosaurs: they just got evolution-ised out.

Re: species definition - ... Isn't that the only one? I mean, unless you're talking about plants, which do really weird things, I thought that was the definition of a species.

I think the mule case is a case where the two animals are already genetically similar to a high degree: taking the evolution theory, they would have a common ancestor. So if two quite similar genes are mixed, you may just have enough chromosomes to build a proper animal. Or something. >_>

The pigmentation example suggests change of small degree imposed on a population by environment change

Isn't that called evolution? Where the characteristic of an animal changes in accordance to the demands of its physical environment. Evolution does not occur in big jumps, but small changes, after all.

Also... elephants becoming tuskless. Does that mean that they are no longer elephants?

... I think it just means that they're tuskless elephants. Or maybe a new breed. Like Siberian tigers versus sumatra tigers. But... It's like humans, there can be chinese and angmohs, but we're still humans ( ... )

Personally, I think that it's okay to teach both evolution and er, intelligent design. Why not? Shows both sides of the coin. And hey, science is one airy-fairy mass anyway. ;) Look at the atom. We don't even have any clue what it looks like, but we have teh decent data and a bit of thought. No theory has ever been proven, only supported. So teach loh. *shrugshrug*

Congrads, MOE, thank you for dumbing down the future generations of Singapore.
Eh, what's the big deal? O_o They'll just have to change their requirements then... In Australia, you don't have to be a triple sciencer to get into medicine. Maybe they could have something like the UMAT. >.> Australia's education system: Far easier, but with lots of decent learning points for Singapore. Of course, Aussies need to learn from Singapore as well. XD

But isn't it stupid? You'd think that after 10 years of school a kid should a have a pretty decent idea of what they're going to do in Uni, and even for the undecided, there are general courses like PCME or BCME. So what's the point? Makes JC even more useless IMO... (Yes, the whole lot of us are just sitting around and waiting for Uni to start.)

I have one thing to say to that.

HAR.

Just because let's say, the students of RJ (and AC and NJ, even) have a fairly decent idea means NOTHING. You'll be amazed at the number of teenagers going "ZOMG, I'll just do whatever my friends are doing in Uni, LOL!" Trust me, they don't give a rat's ass about PCME or BCME (sadly).

I think JC gives you guys at the very least, one more year than other places to grow up. Too many people are thinking a) I must do what my parents tell me to do or b) ah, who gives a *beep*. I have seen people in their TWENTIES who still have that mindset. *shudders* And you'll be having fun liek whoa in uni after JC, esp if you go overseas.

HAR was not meant to be cutting. It was filled with the cyncism and sadness that can only be gotten when seeing Murdoch students filling in Uni applications. Okay? Pls to not be offended. O_o;

(Commented after Kai said it might be.)

You need to wear a skirt? O___________O

... Okay, now I'm definitely not going to work in an office. =P BLEAH.

That renaming the street thing is lame. >.> Personally, I'd rather have numbers. Less hassle to remember.

Really? Triple science is dead. X________X That's the 'medical' stream in JC right? I read something like that on wikipedia, believe or not, RJ, HC and NY have a page to themselves and that's what it said. >.> BLAH. Singapore's going to get dumb, dumber and very soon, dumbest. XD But we'll probably trash Australia by miles. XD Quite a number of students here can't even be bothered to get into Uni at all.

Dude yeah. I hate skirts. >_< But sadly for us, we're all gonna end up as office workers... You can go for a sex change operation, Touda.

The streets thing. You should see the number of letters it gets, oh boy. Bo liao. -_-;;;

Trip science is truly dead, yep, no more Med fac (medicine faculty. Though, everyone who takes bio is gonna end up in med fac so...) And yes I know the R is on wiki, and I can understand HC being on wiki as well, but NY...? O_O And I'm suprised the V doesn't have one, being the most enthu school and all.

But yeah, everyone's so kiasu we're still going to be really good at the subjects. But to give a quote: I've never let my schooling interfere with my education. =) We'll see how it turns out, though I suspect the gahmen is going to get a bite in the ass...

Aww... that's a sad thing.If I could end up being as pretty as Kame, I wouldn't mind going for a sex change operation. XD;; Cept that I'll get rid of my Singaporean citizenship so that I wouldn't need to serve NS. You could do it with me if you want. The more the merrier.

NY @ Wikipedia. See? I told you so. XD
And VJC has a Wikipedia page too. Even Meridian has a page. XD See? Wikipedia roxx my soxx... There's even a page on KAT-TUN~

Kind of stupid to get rid of the triple science. >.> So, what's the requirement to get into Med? O.O

No thanks, I like being a girl. Men will become defunct one females learn how to reproduce without them, I am convinced of that.

Wikipedia = pwnz all. XD

I don't know what the new medicine requirements are actually. (Assuming here that you refer to Uni?) Maybe they just have to get good marks and take bio. *shrugs*
