Happy Winter Solstice, Saturnalia and Sol Invictus Day!

I think of the three - Sol Invictus is my favorite. The 'unconquered Sun' was a popular coin/image motif in the late Roman Empire. The figure is remarkably 'Christ-like' in appearance - in fact, the early Christians will 'borrow' this image for later iconography

Not for this version. There are other images of nebulae that are far larger and online.

Lovely as always! That is some nice resolution on Jupiter, especially.

For the holidays, Jack and I will be driving up to stay at my parents' for a few days. Christmas Eve is the annual party at my parents' with my Dad's childhood friends. Christmas Day we open presents, have a leisurely breakfast, then head up to my aunt's house for Christmas Eve dinner and more presents. I think I'll also be hooking up with one of my college friends while I'm home.

Sounds like fun - though sometimes I do miss gathering with family. But spending time with good friends works for me too.

Tres snazzy. As for plans, 4 day weekend, hanging out with friends and their family, probably some bad movies. Usual holidays

Duncan and I will be at my mother's Christmas Day... Not sure when we'll be meeting up with his parents, but hopefully he'll tell me. ;P

I love the Rosetta (stone) nebula photo.

I have to work this X-Mass. So it won't be so fun this year. I am off on New years... hope to see Snookie get dropped from a ball in Jersey again. :P
