Definately better image on top. Now for a technical question on ol M51... Is it feeding off that other star cluster right at the bottom, and it almost looks like it's eating some form of black matter from it as well.

The lower object is a smaller, though fairly massive galaxy. And yes, the arm is being pulled/distorted by the smaller galaxy. Depending on your monitor, you might be able to see fainter, diffuse plumes of material around the smaller galaxy.
