*flails*

But c'mon on, he's bound to survive if he's signed up to the Christmas special - and in the previous RT interview discussing episode 8 which supposedly took place in 1919 with the Spanish 'flu, he was mentioned as dining with the rest of the family.

It's all marketing hype. *breathes* Course it is...

It was the Independent actually (I know, starts to get confusing) but yeah, going with survival. (DS is being cheeky on twitter re: DigitalSpy article.)

Nevertheless, if the intent was to shock, it did the trick b/c I literally gasped when I saw the pictures.

I am so confused - but thank you! :)

Yeah, it's a very striking picture. But I think if he really was going to die they wouldn't let him say things like that in interviews. Because now it wouldn't be such a shock if he did. If that makes sense.

It's like a new HP book all over again! :D

If that makes sense.

It does. :) And as mollivanders and quite a few have pointed out, if they kill off Matthew, they have to start over again with the 'search for heir' business, and something tells me not even JF can work up the enthusiasm.

Gorgeous Mary icon, btw. Which reminds me I need to pick a Matthew...

Okay, so I've been reading all these articles about S2 and is it just my unlucky luck or do none of them mention an air date? Now that I've got my friends watching it, their ravenous desire for a "WHEN CAN I SEE MORE" date is starting to affect my calm "of course I can wait".

Sept 18 for ITV, Jan 8 for PBS.

I love your icon! Evelyn is such an underappreciated character!

Those scans kinda gave me chills - so gritty that I am suddenly terrified.

Yeah, that was my reaction too. We had some hints in the leaked teaser, but the poor quality didn't prepare us for these. But better gritty and realistic than laughable.

I am doing this massive yo-yo thing when it comes to series 2.

LOL well put.

And I'm with epea_pteroenta. I love me some Evelyn Napier.

I'm actually not that worried about this, as it makes a lot of sense. They'll want us to think he could die, but seriously, he won't.

Him dying would just regurgitate storylines too much and they won't go there. They might have a presumed dead storyline, but he'll survive. Maybe that's where the entail thing comes in - if they think he's dead...

Oooh presumed dead! Never thought of that. That would be a very interesting plot...

But what if the inheritance or the entail no longer matters in the aftermath of the war? Then it's ok to kill of Matthew, it seems :(

Still, I think it's unlikely. I couldn't bear to watch the show without Dan in it ;)

I doubt the law will change enough, even after the war, to get rid of the entail problem. Not to mention, it'd be so stupid if something made SUCH a big deal of in series 1 was just pushed under the rug in series 2. Fellowes is far better than that.

LOL! I hope I don't sound like I'm being pretentous or trying to be clever or anything. I'm probably sounding more firm because I'm trying to convince myself we have nothing to worry about! LOL!

Just that I really do think A LOT of this stuff is designed to tease us and increase our antipication, that's all. It's definitely working and I CANNOT WAIT! But some things are just very very unlikely to happen - like if they DID happen it'd just be really bad storytelling and I think Fellowes is definitely not a bad storyteller!
