Sir Anthony? Really? ;) These sound an awful like invited guests (...what? To a jury trial! :p )

KCTS9 chose a lovely image to put as their first one...oh, they're adorable. :D

Thank you for all these great pics -- you're the best!!! :)

It's also a lot of old actors, not that there's anything wrong with that (love Samantha Bond, and have enjoyed the others as well). But they seem to be aiming for grown-up affairs in the special, whatever that is.

re: US tour reception: I think the word we're looking for is 'smitten.' :) I really liked this bit in one of the TCA reports:
Interestingly, there was such fervent anticipation among the critics last week about actors from Downton Abbey appearing here on Sunday that a casual observer might have mistakenly assumed PBS was bringing in the cast of Glee or readying a reunion of the Lost cast.

It's true. It does have sort of the feel of a set piece somehow. I mean, Christmas 1918 everything would still be up in the air after the war ended but perhaps 1919 is the right time for a really big "We survived the war woohoo" party. Or maybe it's something else? The Daily Mail article says that Anna/Bates/Vera won't be resolved until the special so perhaps that could be the main dramatic focus while the upstairs plots are having a more conventional party or even wedding? I don't know. I'm still holding out for Robert dying of the flu in the last few minutes of the special though. That would be such an epic way to end it! *likes cliffhangers*

Oh I like him too. (And I've liked Robert Bathurst since Cold Feet.) I thought he and Edith had something genuine going on, and much as I love Mary, what she did to him was wrong. I've had this hope she'd come clean with him, make up for it in some way, and maybe his re-appearance means she's going to have that opportunity.

*Coming in uninvited* (What would Lady Grantham say?)

I like Sir Anthony too and glad to see he's back. I think he and Edith were well suited together. While she saw him as an opportunity for her, I do think she sincerely liked him.
