I read half (?) of the Kite Runner, but had to put it down at the rape scene. It was just too much for me.

I'm sorry if this is inappropriate, but I know of you from the feminist community. I really enjoy your posts, even when we don't always agree. Anyway...

What did you think of "The Time Traveler's Wife"? I thought it started out strong, but I loathed it by the time I finished it.

No worries, it's not inappropriate at all. I really liked The Time Traveller's Wife, but I remember getting frustrated with it towards the end. I don't remember tons about it because I read it last summer, but it struck me as one of those books that could have benefited from a really good editor.
