Victor Borkowski was the last person to give her a birthday present. He actually cornered her with it when she was on her way to meet up with Tommy and head back to LA. He caught her in the hall and awkwardly thrust a small jewelry box into her hands. Nico hesitated, watching Victor as she opened the lid. "God, Vic, it's beautiful."
She pulled the necklace out, twisting the chain around her fingers and letting the medal dangle in front of her face. "Saint Catherine?"
"Patron saint of lawyers," Victor said seriously. "You really like it?"
"I love it," Nico assured him, pulling the chain over her head. "You're so sweet. If you were straight..."
Victor snorted, rolling his eyes. "Girls are icky and have cooties. Get moving, before Tommy comes looking." He gave her a gentle push, and Nico laughed.
