Tonight, bilechunks and I were discussing various horror films. This is not uncommon for is. Anyhow, we were talking of how strange it is that nothing seems to genuinely "scare" us. We enjoy horror mostly for the comedy and gore involved [and the occasional well put-together plot].

HOWEVER.

There is one scene in one film that is still terrifying to the ( Read more... )

Now there is one scene that always makes me cringe and one movie I can't watch alone.

Scene: American History X. Curb stomp always makes my teeth hurt.

Movie: Signs. I don't have nightmares about monster but I have had a bunch about aliens since I was a kid. So I can't watch this film alone at night, too creepy. It makes my mind wander while I'm laying in bed afterwards. As much as I LOVE Sci-fi. It creeps me out and not in the 'I'm gonna die sense' but in the whole state of utter confusion and ignorance fear sort of way.

Tell me I am making sense with this rambling.

But yeah, aside that movies never get to me in the 'scare' type way.

I don't watch the curb-stomping. I mute the television and turn away. The first time I saw it I literally felt my stomach flip over.

We were talking about "Signs" too! Mainly the part where they're watching the video footage of that little kid's birthday party. Besides, the aliens looked like something out of the "Stinkfist" video, which makes them way awesome [and scary].

oh. .. Stinkfist. . .lovin' it! Yeah, that part during the party, God that sooo got to me in the theaters. Joaquin Pheonix's reaction during the scene was near what mine was. Than again, in the movie theater I really get engrossed into the flick or totally blow the whole thing off.

I don't see why people diss that movie!!

Because some people can't appreciate a film for what it is, rather that what it's supposed to be.

I loved how it had a claustrophobic feeling, and how it focused only on the people inside that house. It had a "creepy" factor that not many movies have anymore.

Most movies rely on way too many special effects and loud noises.

Actually no, I win. Because I would never have the desire to see that movie, and probably wouldn't have even watched it had I been paid.
