He's almost 13 years old. Not a SUPER old man, but no spring chicken either.

I *think* I have the living room figured out, but then all creative energy went towards making the Clockwork Couture showroom nicey nice and I have yet to really start on the Living room. Have a great idea of what couch I want, what to do to hide the flatscreen and storage issue, now to just come up with money that I don't really have to spare to do it. This news of Pfeffer's illness does put a small wrench into things as radiation therapy to cure hyperthyroidism is about $1k.

You're gonna have to come by or at least attend the grand opening. The peeps at Labyrinth of Jareth haven't installed the bookcase thingy or other pierces and the fountains have not been built yet so there is nothing really to see in my opinion for you who knows the space well.

Did they recommend the radiation therapy? With Yoda, they said if the pills were working okay, which they were, they didn't recommend bothering with the radiation therapy. Occasionally it can actually cause them to have reverse issues- Hypothyroidism. Especially with an older cat (he was 15 and the treatment at the time was like $1700) the pills were less expensive, less stressful and seemed to control his thyroid issues quite well. (In the end, what got him wasn't thyroid related at all).

Either way, :(. Poor Pfeffer.

it was not recommended, persay, but it is an option. A study done recently states that cats that have an average of 2 years left on the therzaflubaflubah (Donna speak for his medication name that I've forgotten) will have 5.3 years with the therapy. He's not as old as Yoda and all his other vitals came back shining today so it really depends. If he lived another 2 years, the $1k I'd spend on the therapy would outweigh the meds and testing. Not to mention he has to be medicated twice a day and our hopes of ever going out of town would be dashed if we didn't do radiation so I'm going through with it.

Poor kitty. :( I know the feeling, unfortunately. I'm home in Michigan right now caring for our family dog, who's really just hanging on by a thread at times. She's gotten a lot more alert lately, which is good, but she can barely see anything anymore and she has no bowel control left - a far cry from her youth, when she was THE most well-behaved dog I've ever seen, and would hold it as long as it took for someone to get home and let her out (and would come charging in to let you know when it was time to take her out if you were already home). It's so hard seeing her like this, but even harder to know that it means she'll be gone soon, whether it's tomorrow or in a few years (she's turning 16 at the end of May).
