HAHAHA! Jeremy Bentham! I went to University College, London where The Mummy Mr. Bentham is ensconced (in a dark little corner, shoved out of the way of traffic). I used to pass him several times a week. I understand they used to wheel His Waxiness into university board meetings, per his will.

Yay!

Oh yeah. I'd forgot about that. You're so lucky to have had Mr Bentham to oversee your education. Surely that has more to do with what you are today than you realize.

Woot!
Bentham was definitely the cutest philosopher. I think the he had himself "preserved" because he had something in his will that required his body be wheeled in during meetings or something, but I remember imperfectly- do you know the story?

Cutest? I don't know. I thought you were more of a Kierkegaard kind of groupie. Ask Paularubia about this. She went to his college. She's also a great LJ friend.

Hey, have you read Kierkegaard lately? I read like three pages of either/or today- it is great! I have no idea what he is talking about (jn a larger sense) yet, but it cracks me up!

No, not in a long time, but I've been fixin' to do it soon. I also want to reread Malcolm Muggeridge's A Third Testament, which gives his takes on Blake, Dostoevski, Kierkegaard, and a few others he saw as sort of prophetic voices of the post-enlightenment Western World.

I am always impressed when a dork like Kierkegaard has insight into human nature. You'd think someone would have to have a lot of friends to learn about people.
