With the new season upon us, and fandom all extra-enthusiastic, I figured now would be a great time for this. Because there can never be enough Downton Abbey fic, and there certainly isn't enough now!

Note: I really do hope this is okay. I haven't written in suuuch a long time so this probably wasn't as well written as I'd hoped it'd be!

As Lavinia sobbed into her arms, Mary held her gently knowing that this is what Matthew would've wanted. For her to at least be there for her. Even if all she wanted to do was lock herself up in her room and cry endlessly. She had remembered the countless times that she had told Lavina he would be, "just fine." And all those times kneeling next to her bed and praying over his picture, practically begging for his safe return

Thats such a heart wrenchings position for MAry to be put in, I hated Matthew for saying it when he did, although I do understand why he did.
