So, I wrote this as a piece of fanfiction. Not recently, but once in my life. And I was going to post it under the fandom's name and everything, but then I reread it. And I wondered, who would each of you think of when you read this? Because it never uses names, a variety of fandoms could fit this piece. And it is literally non-pairing ( Read more... )

I think you probably wrote it for Dean watching Sam. But it also makes me think of how things might have been for Wolverine and Rogue in the first X-men movie, had they not been attacked by Sabretooth and rescued by Cyclops and Storm....

I shall tell you now...I wrote this way back in my Lord of the Rings days. A long time ago, it seems anyway. When I reread it now, I actually thought how it fits so well with the way Castiel watches Dean sleep. And then I thought it really works well for Dean watching Sam too (like you said). With all of the SPN peeps on my Flist, I was curious as to what they would think.

But it also makes me think of how things might have been for Wolverine and Rogue in the first X-men movie, had they not been attacked by Sabretooth and rescued by Cyclops and Storm....

This response has made me so happy. :)

Now, of course, I want a fic about Logan and Rogue having to stay on the road after he picks her up. Oh, Rogue, you fierce wayward orphan child and your wild wolf-man.

So does that make it originally Sam watching Frodo? You know, I really enjoyed the LoTR movies, but I never ever wrote fanfic for them, probably because I started out with Tolkien when I was wee small, and the movies were sort of like fanfic to me!

Have you tried out the lj community wolverinerogue? There are many lovely stories there....

I actually didn't really have any one thing in mind when I wrote it, but later on I always kind of pictured Aragorn watching Frodo - (odd since I was never a huge F/A shipper - I read a little but never wrote any). I have since come to the conclusion that it is simply because poetry always makes me immediately think of Viggo ( ... )

Wow, that is utterly beautiful. I can make that work for so many of the pairs I love but its just poetry.

Thank you! I was so nervous to post it - I can never tell if my poetry is any good or not. And I wasn't even sure if it was poetry in the first place, so you saying so makes me happy. You're a librarian, you know these things, after all.

I actually wrote it for the Lord of the Rings fandom, years ago (now you know!). But I reread it and thought how it fit so well into SPN too. People seemed to either go with Sam/Dean or Dean/Cas - you went with both. ;) Though you are the only one who said it was Sam watching Dean and not the other way around, but as soon as you said that, I thought, "Sure, after Dean comes back Hell, very cool."

PS: I edited it to clarify, because I said "after he comes back from Hell," and then I realized that they have both been to Hell, omg. So now I clarified.

Whichever pairing this was written for, I loved it! I, of course, pictured Dean/Cas, because that is just how my brain works. ;)

Well, that IS how my your brain works. And Castiel does like to watch Dean sleep. ;)

Actually it was an open-ended pairing setup for the Lord of the Rings, back in my first online fandom. I always pictured Frodo/Aragorn myself, oddly since I never wrote them or even shipped them that hard, but it felt like that to me. I was curious back then what LotR pairings people would choose. Maybe it is Viggo and his poetry that made me picture Aragorn?

I really was never hugely into Frodo/Aragorn but I always gave ever pairing a try - (much like I do now in SPN) - and there was some good F/A stuff out there. I just never really had the urge to write that pairing myself. Which is why I am always shocked that even after all these years, my mind still says F/A about this poem.

Some of Viggo's dirty hippie traits did bleed over into Aragorn, but I found that a good thing. lol Damn dirty hippies. ;)

Yes, def Aragorn watching Frodo sleep.
