I used to have a similar rule. Not 500 words a day (too ambitious for me!), but just write something every day, even if it was just a paragraph. Those were the days before I began teaching or my M.A., fandom was shiny and new, and my life was still my own. Yeah, those days are loooong gone.

Every now and then, usually during the holidays, I tell myself that I'd like to go back to that and I try. I really do. And it should come as no surprise that the 'write-something-every-day' rule lasts just as long as the holidays do. :-(

But go you! 4222 words sounds very productive to me. *g*

(And I didn't read about your dream because I have no clue when it comes to The West Wing. Maybe I'm not as geeky as you think I am.)

Btw, there's an icon meme going around that I expect to see up on your journal soon. I plan to do mine tonight. Well, ideally. I might just crash instead. Ho-hum.

Well, I sat down and wrote the first day for a half hour and I was able to write 800 words - so I decided 500 words was not too ambitious. Except, this all proved to me that the real problem isn't getting the words out when I sit down...it's the actual sitting down. The days I did manage to start, I wrote triple times what my goal was. But I only wrote on three of the four days, so...you see my problem? Still, I'm going to keep trying for this every week.

I don't know, once again, why you have to go to work and can't just stay home and write me fic all day...I mean, write fic all day, not always for me. Okay...

Yes, thanks, 4,222 words makes me happy.

I figured that Mini Na No Wri Mo is a damn wonderful thing for that. My limit is 150 words per day. Together, in the last three days, I wrote over 8,000 words. Which is like... more than I wrote in a few previous months together. The quality is questionable though.

Go you! Anything is good. :)

Where do you get dreams like this? O_o

The only dream I remember was a few days ago. It was weird and uncomfortable and I was stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere where the closest town was a few hundred miles away and next bus was about to arrive like twelve hours later. I was scared and bored... and then I decided to wake up. So I did.

8,000 words!! HOLY HELL!! I keep seeing that your updates show you getting way over your goals, but wow. I'm not sure it all has to be perfect when we write it first off. We can always tweek it. I think it is, at least for me, the practice of getting back into writing as a whole, even if the stuff takes a while to start sounding like anything.

Go you! Anything is good. :)

Thanks! It's seriously more than I've gotten out in a long time. I think I'm just disappointed because I still have so many unfinished pieces.

I don't know. Honestly, I ask myself that all the time. I have always had vivid dreams that I can usually remember. I thought they might get less frequent without all the drug-induced hallucinations, but no...this is just how I dream. I remember dreams I had as a kid even. One involving Magnum PI and She-Ra's unicorn. I swear.

I've been trying to write a little everyday too. No where near as ambitious as you though. 4,000 words is damn good. I'm lucky to get a paragraph or two down. Then feel blessed if they make sense with anything else I've been working on.

Oh, Dodger! Your dream, it is the bomb! That is a totally kick-ass action adventure movie of a dream. I can't remember the last time I had one that awesome, I'm jealous.

But if you are writing every day, you are still doing good, because that's my problem. Once I start, word count is easy. But getting started is not so easy. As long as you keep doing it a little bit at a time, it will keep your creativity going, I think at least. Are you working on any Chris/Steve/Eliot porn, by chance? heehee

I know!! I woke up and had to play out what I thought would happen next. Last night I dreamed I was running a summer camp and Martin from "Without A Trace" showed up to take me on a date. It very romantic.

EDIT: Did you ever watch "Without A Trace" at all?

Just saw the edit. That's the one with the guy who played Vin Tanner on Magnificent 7, right? I don't believe I've ever knowingly watched an ep.
