Though in fairness if we're just getting a one hour adventure, I don't actually want every companion in it, otherwise it will just turn into a series of HEY LOOK WHO IT IS NOW! And I'd rather have more story and less of that.
Same, if we're gonna get any companions, I hope they're from Classic Who rather than New Who. I'm happy with Captain Jack as he's pretty much the New Who equivalent of the Brigadier, but it would be nice to see some companions we haven't seen for years.
I wonder if this perhaps suggests we'll get each Doctor and a companion. Louise and Lalla Ward are the only living companions of Four, as I'd consider Matthew Waterhouse, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding as companions of Five. If Tom is gonna be in the 50th, they'd probably choose Louise over Lalla as I'm guessing she's probably on better terms with Tom. Plus she's also more famous in her own right compared to Lalla.
If that is the case, I wonder which other companions we'll get.
Honestly, this is quite a relief. Not having all of Ten and Eleven's companions means that it's more likely that some of the older characters will get their chance in the spotlight, which is what the fiftieth should be.
Although I understand that it's probably a good idea not to over stuff an hour-long story with too many characters - but I can't help but feel a little sad about that. Then again, Martha is one of my favorite companions.
