I have always loved your explanations of why the Doctor means so much to you. Feel free to repeat those anytime. :)
I've never felt I could join in, because apart feom being glad that he'd helped shape so many of my favorite people, I didn't have any particularly emotional or visceral connection to the Doctor.
But the Doctor (with the help of the more Doctorish people I personally know) this year managed to help with a problem in my life that I didn't think anybody -- human or not, fictional or not -- could do anything about. I am very grateful for that.
And yesterday I found myself defending Steven Moffat against somebody slagging him off (that I was all set up to agree with)! Truly this is a world gone topsy-turvy. :)
