[ Though Beyond isn't brand new to the Mansion, he's still new enough to be lost very easily. He's still a bit wobbly from earlier, from when he'd passed out from a mysterious fever, but he's well enough to be wandering around. He does stumble a few times, but that's mostly because he's staring at his feet and chewing the edge of his over-sized

[ He jumps, startled, and looks up. And then immediately looks back down, mortified. It was an L! He'd looked an L in the face! He cowers, as if expecting to be smacked. ]

Back up to the library. More books. He's run out again, and so he needed more. Obviously.

A turns the corner with an armload of books, almost running smack into B. Gaze slowly traveling up from the other's feet, his eyes widen considerably and the books fall to the ground with several large thuds as he takes a few steps back.

No... not a B. He'd been *so* careful.

A couldn't even speak at the moment, rooted to the spot by shock. He swallowed hard, chewing nervously on his lower lip.

I... I don't... sorry... running into you... I--didn't, I...

[ He makes a small noise of fright and backs away, looking just as nervous. He doesn't look up, so he doesn't know who it is. He covers his eyes with his sleeves. ]

B-beyond is sorry, too, he didn't mean t-to run into anybody!

[ He's a skittish little thing. ]

He's not quite sure. Blinking somewhat, he took another couple of steps back, tilting his head in a confused manner.

N-no, it's alright... you, um. I just. Wasn't looking where I was--where I was going.

A won't let him get any closer, not even budging to pick the books up from the floor, his eyes still fearfully glued on B.

[ He peeks out from behind his sleeves, just to see if it's an L, and when he sees it isn't, he takes a longer look. ]

Nono, Mister didn't do anything, Beyond should pay attention more.
M always said Beyond was an idiot for not looking up.

[ He doesn't mention the fact that Mello was the reason he never looked up in the first place. ]

[And, enter Mello. Apparently, he's looking around for a certain ghost (and some people will know that's a load of bullocks), but he stops when he spots Beyond.]

How many of you are there in this place? [He appears to be slightly annoyed, but also very very amused.]

[ OSHI-- That's... that's M's voice! M was here? B squeaks and backs away, stumbling into a wall and putting his hands over his head, cowering. ]

[ He watches Luke's feet nervously, not wanting to look up. ]

*L is ambling down the hallway, but he looks tired: he's so pale that he looks slightly green, and there's something subtly labored about the way he moves.*

*He pauses and looks at Beyond for a moment, without saying anything. When he speaks, his voice is smaller than usual.*

[ He squeaks, and backs up a little. But he does remember this L, just a little, and he isn't quite so nervous. ]

O-oh... Hello, G- ... L, sir.
Beyond is, yes.

[ He sneaks a peek at L, and then blinks. He looks a bit worried. ]

*He rubs at the outer corner of his eye with the side of his wrist, absently, and continues,*
