Settling in?

Ax wasn't sure how he felt about this "Disneyland" situation, but he was rather pleased with his choice of a home. From what he'd seen of this place, it was fairly short on large areas of grass, but he'd managed to find a decent supply that, as it so happened, was next to a small river ( Read more... )

When Envy first saw this thing transform, he started. Then he watched him for a while from the shadows, his eyes narrowed.

Never before had he seen another creature be able to shapeshift. He had almost been tempted to call this thing another homunculus, except he was the only homunculus that had the ability to shapeshift.

This thing wasn't allowed to have his powers. It wasn't. He stepped out of the shadows, arms crossed and looking more than a little annoyed. "Who are you?" he snapped.

Ax jumped, understandably startled. Well, this didn't really help his panicked state any.

He'd gotten to a mostly-human form when this human had discovered him, so he quickly finished the morph. "Hello," he said as politely as he could. It was so unfortunate that human voices betrayed emotion so easily--he could tell he sounded terrified. "My name is Phillip. Who are you?"

He could only hope that this human hadn't actually recognized what he was.

"I'm Envy," Envy said. He looked 'Phillip' over critically. "How did you do that?"

Ax looked away guiltily. "Do what?" he asked. Denial was a useful tactic, at times.

It had been a long time since Jack had seen anything that looked like Ax, but it - he was clearly in a lot of distress.

Walking up him, the human said with some concern, "Are you okay? What's happening?"

Ax had spent another few minutes fretting and being generally irritated until he'd finally decided to (grudgingly) take Envy's advice and morph back to human form.

It seemed, though, that this plan, too, was doomed. He'd only just begun the morph when this other human had appeared--he looked like a human, at least; Ax was beginning to think that might not be such a wise assumption to make, anymore.

He didn't have any chance of finishing the human morph without arousing serious suspicion, so he gave up, reversing the morph and leaping behind a bush a few steps away before yelling back in thought-speak,

Jack winced at the 'volume', then choked out at short laugh. "Yeah, and I'm a Dalek in a tutu. C'mon, I'm not gonna hurt you. What's wrong?"

These humans certainly seemed... unnaturally calm about seeing an Andalite. Then again, he'd already met a drone and... some sort of other creature with morphing abilities. Perhaps there were many alien creatures in this place.

The question was, would it help him any to morph to human at this point? Probably not. It would only further his loss of a disguise, assuming he was going to have to pass as human while he waws here. Maybe the best thing would be to just talk to this human as an Andalite.

Ax said again, stepping out and eyeing the human nervously.

Like Envy, Hiruma stands and watches for a while, getting over his initial reaction of (he has to admit) utter shock impressively quickly and watching the blue furred equine form with narrow-eyed interest.

He doesn't bother to step forward, because he hadn't been... hiding, exactly, in the first place. Not hiding. Just standing out of the way and observing. He finally draws attention to himself by speaking up, grinning a sharp-toothed grin in the creature's direction. "Having a problem, fucking shifter?"

Ax was starting to seriously regret thinking that he'd have any privacy whatsoever here. For future reference, he noted, grassy hills and trees did not always ensure that no humans--or other creatures--would be around.

He was practically surrounded, now.

not having a problem,> he retorted automatically, stepping back. These humans, in addition to being considerably calmer around aliens than seemed normal, were certainly nosy.

Telepathy? That was interesting. Hiruma meets the creature's stalk-eyes for a few moments, examining them and how they seem to work, then shifts his gaze down to meet the two more normal eyes. "Kekeke, just seemed like you were panicking a little, that's all. So what are you? Got a name?"

At least Hiruma doesn't give the impression of being hostile. Neither does he seem to worry if Ax is hostile. He is, as Ax had thought, just nosy as hell.

panic> Ax argued, somewhat sourly. This wasn't exactly true, of course--Andalites were certainly capable of panicking when the situation called for it. That just wasn't very often, and certainly not over something like this. It was a troubling problem, to be sure, but he'd calmed down enough by now to decide that it would most likely be solvable. he replied, by now used to having to admit to this.
