Ok, so I must confess that when I began reading your post the first song I thought of was "Vogue". No shit, before I read your list of songs. The next thing I thought was, "Wait, come on, I know there are other contenders." For me one of them would probably be "Erotic" but that I think may have more to do with my age when I heard it. It was one of the first songs i heard and was like, "Oh, so that's what sexy is."
By the way, please, please, please post the list of what makes your cd. Because you are one of the few people whose music tastes I respect more than about anyone else's. There are few people on this list. Although, funny enough, foxtrotxray is also on this list. Anywho, post your list!
Aaaaaand . . . since I'm here and was thinking of this earlier, what albums do you believe are essential to own? What songs are essential to hear? What are your theme songs?
Ray of Light (the song and the album, but in this case I refer to the song itself) was a huge hit when I was in high school, back in 1998. I think W. Orbit did a tremendous job with it. The energy it has outstrips most electronica tracks I've heard (for whatever reason, I have a certain weakenss for rock/electronica).
I mean, that's the ultimate Madonna song, right? It's about identity and dancing and sex and it's one of the most gleefully fun pop songs ever. People who can't enjoy themselves when they hear that song are best avoided.
