Is this too hard?

I absolutely love knitting& I have a bunch of needles of different sizes and a lot of yarn but I'm sick of making scarfs. I really want to make a hat or sweater but I have no idea how to read patterns. Does anyone know how or an easy to figure out site, to learn?  I really really really want to learn how to read them!

knitting, help!, knitting patterns

You can also start watching 20sknitters and novice_knitters and look what people have tackled there.

A good place to start might be from a book that Fred Meyer's sells called "I can't believe I'm knitting!" You don't have to learn everything all at once, you can just refer to what you need to know as you go along. At least that's how I learned. I just found patterns that I liked and found instructions for each step as I went.
