The Princess and her Shadow

Ironically, this is merely an Introduction of a sort to what will come next. Think of this as the "Index" Post for a rather long and tedius essay which will be divided into separate posts according to Topic due to its massive length.
If you still don't want to read everything down here, remember it's spoilerish to heck and back.
At least read the ( Read more... )

Smile, I can't believe you are going to bring gayness into this. For God's sake, Sora, Riku, Naminé, Kairi, Saïx, Xemnas, Axel, Roxas, Demyx, Zexion and any other person you think is gay who is not officially gay is NOT gay. ...Did that make sense?

Now, I've always agreed with you. ALWAYS. Until it came to Sora X Riku. That was your one flaw. And I don't want you to bring in up in this Kairi-Naminé-who's-better thing. It's not right. But I bet you won't change that because it's already written. But all I ask is when I'm around, keep the gayness low.

You must've missed this line:
"you don't see this happening be it romantic or simply friendship"
Up to you whether or not to see them as platonic or romantic. I don't care for that. What I do care about is
"This is how relationships should be"
Sora and Riku are each other's best friends. They are actively displayed as each other's best friends despite all the cr@p they tried shoving down our throats about SoKai, what with us actually getting to see it instead of hear rumors of SoKai from everyone other than Sora. Now again comparing SoRiku to SoKai seemingly makes SoRiku romance but hell. Why should I believe SoKai's romance when I barely believe them to be friends?

That aside that shows you seriously need to read what I'm writing instead of writing, I'd appreciate it if you kept such comments to yourself. Needless to say I'm not going to change something I've written over a year ago and that was very well received by almost everyone else over something someone I don't even know wrote.

That aside, Nomura confirmed he's not canonizing any relationships and leaving it all up to the fans. That's why SoKai isn't canon. And that's why we got the KH2 ending scenes with Sora reaching for Riku's rear end and the two basically confessing to loving each other and willing to become the Darkness with each other - so long as they're together.
So uh. No. Just because a character isn't officially gay doesn't mean they're not gay. Where was it said they're officially straight, hm? What's this, nowhere? Thank you.

All I ask is that when I'm around, keep the homophobia and close mindedness to a minimum. Otherwise, you know, you can just stop reading.

Sorry, Smile. It was like 3:50 in the morning. I felt drunk. Dismiss what I said. I'm really sorry. Anyway, I remember Nomura saying that... I'm normally open-minded unless it's in the morning. Then I say 'Fuck it!'

Hey, dunno if you'll read this since it's been years since you posted this essay, but I was blown away by how well thought out and written it was. You really summed up the problems Kairi has as a character and why she's so fundamentally different from Namine. Thanks a bunch for posting. :)

Oh wow, this thing still circulates on the internet? I was sure the only replies I get here these days are spambots.

Thank you, kind person, both for taking the time to read this, as well as keeping an open mind. Though in hindsight, if I were to write it now, perhaps I would've been less hostile towards Kairi, if only because I feel more pity towards the poor thing now, but it's out there, so.

:) I'm glad you enjoyed, and took the time to leave feedback. You're a wonderful person and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day or night, depending on where in the world you are at.
