[Looks like Nani got a little lost. That's an odd place to put a statue, she thinks, and then she sees it move. It isn't the weirdest thing she's ever seen, by a long shot, but it's still more than a little unsettling. She'll just turn and... go back in the other direction.
[The statue looks up. In the moonlight, his eyes are focused and sharp, and locked on Nani's face.
Goliath holds her gaze for just a moment, wondering what her reaction will be. He does not know this human, and he did not expect any to come by at this hour.]
[Jasmine has been having nightmares as of late, and found herself either sleeping fitfully, not getting any sort of rest, or waking up in a cold sweat, staring at the ceiling for hours on end. She couldn't take it anymore, she needed to get out of her room.
The library was the destination of choice; perhaps she could read something light and fluffy, or something like history- no emotions involved- to get her mind off of a certain evil sorcerer who keeps haunting her dreams.
Her eyes land on Goliath and she freezes momentarily. Oh, wait, yes, she remembers him now.] Oh, I am sorry. I did not realize you had returned.
The expedition just ended. I believe the others are resting.
[He remembers the princess too, and remembers thinking she seemed insightful and good-hearted, and worth speaking to. Yet even the last time they met, she was wandering in unusual places, at unusual hours. That is cause for suspicion, or concern, and Goliath has no reason, and doesn't want any reason, to be suspicious of this young human.]
Should you not be resting as well? It is very late.
[Book forgotten, Goliath focuses his attention on Jasmine. If her distress has something to do with the Mist, if it can do this to people, he wants to know quickly.]
[Aqua for one reason or another couldn't fall asleep. Her mind wouldn't shut down, so what better way to tire it out than by going to the library to do more studying?
She has a candle in her hands as she walked down the aisles, unaware there's someone else there.]
[The candlelight catches his eye, and Goliath looks up to see who approaches. Obscured in the shadows and half-illuminated by moonlight, Aqua likely doesn't see much more than the sharp movement of something large in the darkness. Still, Goliath recognizes her, and they've already gotten their awkward introduction out of the way. He speaks to alert her to his identity.]
[She does see something but she contributes it to maybe the curtains moving. Then she remembers curtains aren't usually that big. Feeling startled she takes in a quick breath. What was tha--oh....it's Goliath.
She exhales a long sigh, and forgets her candle is close to her and the flame is snuffed out. Great..]
It's either this or wear myself out on the track. I prefer to pass out somewhere that's closer to the dorms. [She tries to make it sound like a joke, but she's slightly tired. Looking at her unlit candle she concentrates for a moment. She quietly murmurs the word 'fire' while waving her free hand over the candle. Instantly a flame appears on the wick and she can see again. Have a tired smile Goliath.]
[Shere Khan's been in a bit of a mood since Nala left. He didn't know her well enough to be depressed, but he is disappointed that he doesn't have a cub around his age to play with anymore. He's dealt with it by sulking prowling around and napping more or less whenever he wants. He's not that interested in books, but the one thing he does like about the library is the fact that it's usually one of the quietest places around
( ... )
[Uh oh. The giant bat is even bigger standing than sitting. Still, Shere Khan reminds himself that he is a dangerous predator and therefore far more dangerous than even an enormous bat like this guy could be. Or perhaps not, given those talons, but pride won't let the cub back down]
. . . like a very young tiger, much like the one Goliath spots moving among the fallen shelves.]
I see.
[The batlike creature can loom, and has apparently spent much time looking disapprovingly at smaller and/or younger creatures, because he is very good at it. He gestures to the spilled books.]
[If Hades is going to be staying at this lame Academy, he might as well keep the people around here close. He keeps an eye on everyone--some more than others--and he finds himself always intrigued every time a new face shows up.
He creeps behind the creature, clearing his throat to get his attention.]
[Goliath doesn't startle easily, but he recognizes that anyone creeping up behind him is probably trying to put him on the defensive from the start. He looks over his shoulder, frowning when the person behind him doesn't look like a human, or for that matter, a gargoyle.]
Can I help you?
[A flaming head and deathly pallor is no reason not to be polite. For now.]
[He recognizes the offer of the handshake and, though that smirk makes him feel a mite on the skeptical side, Goliath takes Hades' hand. He doesn't shake it, though - just grips it firmly in his before releasing. It's the 'shake' part he hasn't learned yet.]
Goliath. [He pauses before adding,] Campus Security.
[And, being well-versed in mythology, he recognizes Hades' name. A lord of the underworld? Teaching here? And he thought his being offered a position was strange.]

The name's Hades. Gym teacher and all that. Hey, hi. I don't think I've seen the likes of you around here before. I just thought I'd introduce myself.
