Summary: Stuart thinks about the future..
Notes: I'm not as happy with this as I want to be. This prompt really speaks to me, but I just can't get the words to flow how I want. I've rewritten it several times, and there's still something about it that eludes me and I can't pin down. Anyway, this is only part of a conversation between these two.

“Yes, well, Bertie can go hang!”
Elle gasped. “You don’t mean that. He is only trying to do what he thinks is best.” Stuart rubbed his hand over his face. “No, of course I don’t. Bertie is my brother and I love him dearly, but, he has no right to be planning my future for me. He is taking his new responsibilities as head of the family too far.”
“He was trying to help you.”
“That may be, but I can make my own decisions, and that involves planning the future I want to live, not the future he thinks I should live. I will always be there for him, but…”
“He is not your future,” finished Elle.
Stuart shook his head. ’You are my future,’ he thought as he looked at her. You are the one I want to plan the future with, not my brother.’ But of course he couldn’t say that to her. Instead he finished “I want something else.” He was so intent on his own feelings, that he failed to see the flash of disappointment in her eyes as she wondered just what that future was.
