I sort of OWE you delightful readers a brief recap of Joanne's and my Valentine's Day -- since I have vented often enough about the state of things between us in recent years. (This year should serve as a marker for just HOW it is we still love each other, all things considered ( Read more... )

That does look like a good Valentine's day to me. Well, except for the last part because if it had been me I would have shared the bed with my special someone....

Goddess knows, that WOULD be where I'd have taken things! But Joanne -- between her Catholic upbringing and some unknown disappointment with me -- truly dislikes sex. So much so that we simply cannot discuss her concerns.

Dear Annelaure --

Oh, it is bad in sexual terms; has been for several years -- but we get along pretty well, now that I'm more or less reconciled to her abstinence. Quite a lot HAS happened in the past two months (including spending all of March apart -- she had Washington commitments; I've long told her I cannot stand the winter there; I came back here on April 12). I'm in a little on-line "affair" with another LJ girl. (Still ongoing; I posted today -- http://devifemme.livejournal.com/1519349.html.) You could say we have a tacit understanding that my on-line activities are okay...

Hugz, Justine

It was -- albeit, seen from the morning after, there was rather more booze involved than we're accustomed to these days. Some leftover bourbon-laced eggnog in late morn, a lovely bottle of champagne on the beach, a sauvignon blanc with dinner, and our old fave, limoncello, afterward.

We used to drink waaay more than was good for us -- but scaled it back a decade ago. Joanne for the calories, me for health.

yes...*sighs*..my youth was a bit wilder-speaking of drinks and parties, lol :) by the time my stomach strikes (I think it's because of the tons of painkillers I took during last 30 years)
Btw-tried the jasmine tea? Some sorts work like alcohol-no calories :p

I have heard that about jasmine tea -- but tried it, got NO buzz whatsoever.

Gosh, it WAS a boozy weekend, Joanne even leading the way at times. This morning, we were enjoying the sunshine out by the pool, reading, when she asks, would I like a bloody Mary? Why, yes, yes I would -- and off she went to whip up a batch. (We like ours with tequila instead of vodka...) Then, at dinner tonight, a nearby joint, I asked if she would join me for a whisky sour (old fave of ours -- with bourbon); she often declines -- but said yes. In short, she and I are doing well -- same wavelength, etc...

I'm sorry that the whole sex thing remains unresolved between you, and I do hope that you can eventually sort it out. Our Valentine's Day was nice but a bit snoozy. I got back from work absolutely exhausted. My wife finished much later, and came home feeling even more zonked. I got her some dinner, then we exchanged cards, kisses and cuddles. We sat down on the sofa, watched the Olympics and both fell asleep in front of the TV!

Sounds a LOT like our evening -- though perhaps with less alcohol...
