Well, in the sense that we cut down a pretty thing to bring it closer to us for a holiday, "prettying it up" in the process. We treat it as something mystical; we recall our childhood experiences of that mystery; we endow it with "tribal" significance -- it's to be shared with friends, relatives. Then we remove the decorations and boot it out.
Thanks! The kitties can sure cause havoc -- but they tend to delight us much of the time. It was probably kind of funny to see Lacey's reaction -- until the damage happened. But I understand not repeating the experience again this year -- by next year, you'll probably want to try it again...
Our tree is twelve inches tall and made of plastic, with all of the baubles already on it. I'm afraid that me and the wife are just rather lazy about Christmas decorations...
I'd be just as lazy, but Joanne is a mad decorator by her nature -- and we've had a few holiday "events" at home when the festive look was appreciated. Today, we had both lunch and dinner out with friends, and tomorrow will be similar. We'll enjoy the decore again over the weekend.
Oh, and the weather is cooperating: it'll reach 70+ degrees here in Washington on Sunday, up from 35 just yesterday. Bright and lovely...
