I recently did something for the first time I'm guessing many of you have already done - met someone who I friended on LJ before I'd ever met them in person.

It occurred to me over the course of the weekend that uisinger came up to Winona how absolutely lucky I am to live in a time where things like this are possible. Looking over my list, I've got ( Read more... )

You better let me know when you're coming to Chicago/where you'll be! I'll buy you a drink, definitely!

Emmmm...also. First person I met from LJ turned out to be my husband. We knew each other from before LJ in other net-ular realms, we both started LJ around the same time and eventually met up. The rest is history.

There is a certain someone who replied just below me who is now the #1 Need-to-Meet person, we just missed each other Jan 2004 when I was in London, and I'm now desperate to get back and see her!

Firstly, I think the chances of you coming to England are slim to none as are my chances of coming to America... But one can dream.

First person I met digitally was a guy who I used to chat to on Yahoo, me and the housemate used to chat on a regular basis and eventually we decided to met him in London, this wasn't a good plan, they wanted to go for pizza but he was from up north so we couldn't understand a word he was saying (really thick accent) and we were all shy and it was just a mess.

Other meetings with other Net people have been much more successful though...

I'll eventually come to England. I've been too close twice to not eventually make it there. And I'm rather likely to make a trip to Ireland sometime in the next five years, I'm guessing, so since I'd be in the neighborhood...

Well, I'm 99% sure I'm coming to San Diego; ironically enough, it's Tim (thevulgartrade) who might prevent me from doing anything in SD other than hopping on a plane and heading back to NYC. I say ironic because a) he is making a trip to NYC to see some friends, myself included, and has shifted his plans so as to maintain the possibility that I will actually be there; and b) he's the first digital friend I met in person. Further irony: that meeting took place when I roadtripped across the country the first time, three years ago. I crashed at his place and cooked a nice vegan dinner for his then-roommate Kelly, while he hightailed it to Aurora for the evening, I believe.

I also met isidorenabi on that trip, but failed to meet ludickid in Chi-town, because it was his birthday, and also failed to meet johnnylemonhead as well (who was going by the handle "phibetaslut" at the time), much to my dismay.

Well, if you do wind up facing time constraints, I do provide a pretty good taxi service to the airport.

You're the second - one summer night brad_ah_lee came down from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City on a whim and we ran around town - literally - all night, ending up on an overpass at dawn counting semis. Fun guy.
