Vid recs from VVC 2014

There were plenty of vids I liked this year, but I didn't really emotionally connect with many of them. Lots of fandoms and sources I wasn't familiar with at all, lots of shows I don't watch, lots of songs that didn't work for me (and a song has to work for me personally to get into a vid), lots of vids that were technically gorgeous but didn't

Brad's "Cosmos" vid was one of the ones I really connected with. I am a gigantic geek, and I have loved the new Cosmos, for all kinds of reasons -- his sense of wonder at the vastness of space feels actually very theological to me (even though I know he wouldn't use that term), and I love the show's frequent focus on women and people of color, and basically I just adore the show, and the vid highlighted everything I love about the show while also managing to feel like it was also saying something to me about fandom, how my experience of fandom sweeps me away sometimes and whisks me into the vastness of amazing outer space. The "room without a roof" is because we go flying together, you know?

Okay, I should probably tell that to Brad, shouldn't I? :-)

Hee, you should! :D But I share all those sentiments, really. That vid gave me multiple layers of feels as well, for so many reasons.

I will comment on your vid post later, but though I lacked context for the WtNV vid, I enjoyed it. But I will take that to your journal!

Right? When you have a gimme like that, someone absolutely has to take advantage of it. It's a pretty great vid. I'm sure she'll post it soon.

I can't stop watching Trelkez's Hannibal vid. SO MANY FEELS. I'm also madly in love with the song.

It feels like vids are slower to hit the 'net this year for whatever reason. I'm itching to watch more, but it's slim pickings right now.

They are slower, sort of. I think I agree. Well, and some of us (like me) posted our vids to LJ on Sunday in the dead zone (evening of the last day of the weekend), just to guarantee they'd be missed. Heh. And some of us refuse to post them on tumblr, where almost everything is posted faster, but I have no control there, dnw.

You did! I totally missed it the first time. Very sneaky. But I applaud your dedication to posting on LJ instead of Tumblr - I like reblogging vids there, but there's really no good way to leave feedback.
