There's a woman sitting somewhere off to the side of the main room; she has a head of gorgeous red hair, is dressed in tight-fitting red clothes, red stilettos -- and is currently surrounded by a mass of weapons. Guns, swords, explosives, anything you can imagine; they're all there and she's taking stock of them, looking quite pleased at some of ( Read more... )

Elwing spent the past weeks outside on the lake in her bird-form, but is slowly growing tired of it, so this would be the time for her to enter the Mansion once again.
The red hair catches her attention, unpleasantly so, and just as she is about to make a silent retreat, light flashes off the sword in just the right angle to trigger a series of memories. She all but freezes, unable to move and unable to look away.

In her mind's eye she sees fighting and grabs the stone and runs and hides, and the redhead searches her parents' bodies and she cannot look away, but he cannot find the stone, and then there is silence, and the scene shifts, years later the doors to her chamber in the tower burst open and it is him again, and this time there is nowhere to run and the jewel is on her brow and he has but to reach out, but he will not have it, never, and she backs away, he raises his sword and there is no way but to jump...

When Elwing comes to, she is still staring at War.

Dealing with humans (or elves, as the case may be) is never too large of a concern for War; war, the deed, is broad and far-reaching, and she would much rather deal with a large army than a single person. She isn't nice, either.

As it stands, when Elwing opens her eyes, the sword is gone-- put away among the other weaponry, and War is standing there with a slightly amused expression on her face. "Bad memories?"

There are the obvious visual similarities, the most striking of them of course the red hair, but there is something else about this woman that makes Elwing shiver and retreat a step or two. - But then, she must be feeling remarkably brave today, else she would have been up and away in an instant. As it is, War shall even have an answer.

"Who is asking?"

She was a queen once. She still sounds like one.

Because Bedivere's been having such good luck with redheads lately...

He leans in a doorway and surveys the pile of weaponry carefully. "Bigger isn't always better, you know," he says with glint in his eye. "It all depends on how you handle it."

It's easy enough to get on War's good side, as long as you say the right things or fight the right fights. She's also always had a fondness for soldiers or knights.

"That's true," she replies nonchalantly, giving him a sharp grin. "Though I'm awfully skilled, too."

"Bet I'm better," he says cockily. "I do it all, but with only one hand."

War quirks an eyebrow, then laughs. "I don't know whether you just propositioned me or challenged me to a sword fight."

A slight sidelong smile.

"Don't have a sword, so you win by default."

She flashes a grin. "I always win. Mostly because everyone's too terrified of me."

All right, this is just the tiniest bit disconcerting.

"What do you need all these for?"

She flashes a smile at him, teeth glinting a little. "It's part of my job."

Paul will bite. He's already practically his own private arsenal, carrying a sword, several daggers, and an old-fashioned pistol on his person, but he looks over her equipment with interest--to say nothing of his interest in War herself.

"Are you selling?" He asks, raising an inquisitive eyebrow.

War gives him a once-over, immediately recognizing the type of person he is.

She smiles a little, coyly. "Maybe. What do you need it for?"

"Well, I have this." He puts his pistol between them on the table. "And I'm very fond of it. Blew a considerable hole in a despised enemy. But it does have its drawbacks--the range must be nearly point-blank in order to hit, and it takes ten minutes to reload the thing. Which is a trouble if I'm trying to kill more than one person at once."

He gives her an ample smirk, interested in both her guns and her body, and he likes the coy smile. "Perhaps you could give me some advice."

"Mm," she says noncommittally, glancing from the weapon to him for a few moments before she finally speaks. "That won't do. I think you'll find that weapons have improved greatly."

War picks out a small handgun from the multitudes she has lying around. "This might not look like much, but if you wield it well, it packs a punch." She allows herself a small smirk here. "Like many other things. -- It can hold up to six bullets, which can be fired consecutively before the gun has to be reloaded. The range is also better than your current gun, and you'll find the form more compact and streamlined."
