Oh dear GOD that is heartbreaking. Is it possible that your story here has managed to warm me to the concept of Snape and Lily? Dear GOD, ladies, is there anything you can't sell?

You see? I was so taken with this Cissy/Snape/Lily interplay, that I used the phrase "dear god" twice in two sentences and came off sounding like a prat. Don't let that distract from my point, however-which is you are gooooooood ;)

Awwww! You know, with the extra letters, god & good could be conflated. Or was that your intent? (You didn't sound like a prat at all.)

Anyway, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the Cissy/Snape/Lily stuff. Lily, for our Severus, is sort of like the path not taken. Unlike JKR though, we really believe that you can love many people in many ways without diminishing intensity or passion. For me at least, it's one of the foundation stones of this story.

I think you've managed to hit on everything we were trying to do here, so thank you so much!!! I think you're definitely right about the shattering of pureblood trads. creating house dissension. One imagines that they couldn't always have been as divided as they were during Harry's time at Hogwarts.
