Here we go again... *sigh*

Y'know, I don't actively go looking for new fandom obsessions. Seriously, I don't. I know my obsessive nature and my real life time constraints. Well, I'm aware of the constraints... in a way...

Anyway... I know it's scarcely a new show, but I've just discovered the joy of Numb3rs. I did see the first half of the first episode way back when ( Read more... )

rambling, numb3rs

And stupid channel 10 has stopped part way through season 2 with showing it.

*snort* Typical of Australian TV networks! Although I usually find myself railing agaisnt channel 7 simply because of the program that I happen to be watching (still haven't forgiven them for The Magnificent Seven and that was years ago).

Some of the fics at ff.net really aren't half bad. In fact, I really had to download the season 2 finale "Hot Shots" first because there were just so many missing scene fics from it with lovely Don whumping h/c! I knew that I just had to see it! LOL!

Actually, Supernatural is another show that I've been meaning to get around to watching... Again a case of just not finding the time, forgetting when it's on, etc. But maybe I should just leave well enough alone. Coz like I really need another obsession! ;-P

Heh, snap!!! I'm just getting into this one too, caught a couple of random episode and just fell in love with the whole brother and family aspect of it. I'm going to d/l and watch all of season one in order and carry on with season two on ITV. I was recced some fic by a friend who is an obsessive freak admirer of the show and it's all non incest as I just cannot deal with that at all. I'll look them up and let you know them.

I couldn't agree more with you about it being about the characters and not the nitty gritty of the show, I don't get the math thing at all, it baffles me completely how Charlie can help track a rapist down by using maths *g*, but the family dynamics sucker me in big time.

Supernatural just killed me for the same reason, the brothers and all their glorious, fucked up angst with each other and their lives is just awesome. It's absolute manna from heaven for me and the fic reading is joyful.

Oh, thanks! That would be really great! Starting out as a newbie in an already established fandom, it's great to get some good tips from someone in the know. Cheers!

I am planning on catching up with Supernatural one of these days too. I keep saying I don't need another fandom to obsess over, but somehow I just keep finding them...

Her journal isn't locked so you should be able to view the post with the recs in, saves me having to type all the links out again *g*.

As for Supernatural, you should watch, you should really, really watch. Sort of quickly and nowish and you will never, ever regret it. I haven't been so captivated by a show since SGA, it literally ate my brain and stole my life last season. To an H/C'er and angst junkie like me it's just heaven on the screen and the boys are just so very pretty too. I can't even begin to imagine the screencaps you could produce of them.

In case I haven't made it clear, you should really go and watch it *g*.

So you think there might be something to this Supernatural show then?

It is on my list of things to do. Seriously. Maybe I could mooch some eps off one of my firends who is already obsessed. There has to be someone I know who has some they can lend me... ;-)

And thanks for the recs! Seriously. I'm off to take a peek at them now!

I'm glad you enjoy NUMB3RS for the same reason I do! The family dynamic makes this show different, and makes it special. And I adore Don as well - also for the same reasons.

Hmmmm....you're not like my...long lost twin or something, are you?

(grin)

LOL! Well, I can hardly fault your taste and judgement, now can I?

I do believe that Don Eppes is my newest Objet D'Gush. And I followed a link from lachli above and found some very pretty pics to make new icon from...

A very worthy object - and nice icon!

I know exactly what you mean. I think I might have mentioned it in another post, but I've got a new fannish obsession as well. I've been Eureka, that new show on the Scifi Channel, and it sucked me in from the very first episode. I'm now totally obessed with it. I didn't really need another fandom to get involved in either. Sometimes these things just happen, but withh an interesting concept and a reall cute guy in the lead role, there are definitely worse things that could happen. ;-)

As for the Numb3rs fic, I can totally relate. I personally don't get it, but to each his own, I guess. I'll just stay as far away from it as possible, thanks. There is one site I know of that only accepts gen fic, The CalSci Library.

Hey thanks, Les! It's great to have a genfic archive for a fandom. For someone like me, it saves a lot of time not having to plough through the shippy stuff.

I'll bookmark that one! Cool!

OooOH, yes, numb3rs! We seem to have similar tastes (like you, I'm intrigued by Supernatural as well, and have been promising myself to check it out).

Love the brotherly love. Squiked by the mindless slashing (and don't get me started on RPF!), I've also done my so-far little fic reading over on ff.net. The only other site I know about (seems like a relatively small fandom, neh?) is fandomtalk.com, where they have funny re-caps (two words: Math-fu).

Oh cool! Thanks for the recs! I definitely must check the Math-fu thing. I'm seriously intrigued.

That's one really great thing about walking into fandom for a show that's already been around for a couple of years. There's already a lot of great stuff out there. And it's so cool that you guys can point me in the right directions.

Cheers!
