Greetings, folkses.  Sorry I’ve been away for so long; I was actually hoping to kill this journal and the "depudor" identity altogether in favor of reinventing myself in a more anonymous fashion, but then I realized that I would rather just quit working in television and be able to post whatever the hell I want on the internet without fear of ( Read more... )

Mmm...yummy ratings analysis...

Just out of curiosity, what's the approximate increase in national coverage in terms of UPN versus CW? If that increase is factored in accordingly, does that make a 1.5 seem more attainable? VM would only have to carry over about 70% of GG's current demos to get that.

It's so hard to predict where many of the shows will end up this season.

That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. The market coverage numbers that I used to get with the ratings are no longer included, and at first I thought it was a CW issue, but I'm not getting them for any of the other networks, either.

I don't think it will make a difference though, because VM, like most of UPN's shows, has a very urban demographic (I believe the CW press release on futoncritic said that ANTM was the highest-rated show Wed. night in New York), and those areas always had over 90% coverage. I think we'll be able to tell a lot from how the Sunday night comedies do.

The numbers came in for the comedies, and it was a disaster. EHC got its lowest ratings ever, a 0.8/2 in 18-34. Ouch. Moving to the CW doesn't seem to have helped them at all.

Wow. Just...wow. I know they're re-running some old EHC eps before the 7pm ep airs but I guess that didn't have much of an effect. Do you know how Girlfriends did in that demo?

I'd like to be on the filter, additionally, if you don't mind. Particularly, if you're going to continue to do CW-wide ratings info. I've developed deep attachments to both SPN (as well as VM), and while I'd like to be rationally prepared for the future of both of my shows. Especially given the GA/CSI competition that SPN has against it. :)

SPN did quite well, given the competition, so I don't think you have to worry. I'll keep tracking all the CW shows, but I won't be giving the rest the star treatment that VM will be getting. But that might change, if SPN wins me over. I almost gave up on it after the premiere pissed me off (How dare they?!), but then I got the casting spoilers and saw the promo pics and, yeah, I'm back. Especially since I *hated* the premiere of GA, and The O.C. doesn't come back until November, and I don't watch CSI.
