And you took me there, with you, Deebah!!! And I loved Diamond Comics, which gave us Mandrake the magician, The Phantom, Flash Gordon...oh, those magical days!

I grew up with just about all those comics. What memories you've brought back, Deepa!
And I always read the daily comics as well.

From the late 50's and early 60's the place to be
for all comic rags and meet their aficionados
were Easwari Old book shop/lending library in Lloyds Road..

Turn your memory pages and ...you will
see the owner squatting among stacks of
comics

Since my childhood was in calcutta and not Chennai, my memory pages are different! but yEs, I have been been to Eashwari often when we lived in Chennai.
