I want to carry on watching The Man in the High Castle, but a Nazi America is hitting a little too close to home right now.

It's horrifying that events in 2016, in the twenty-first fucking century, can make me see Nazi Germany in a new light, give me a new depth of understanding of just how something so horrific can happen. With baby steps. With a ( Read more... )

One of my friends texted with a "on this day in history" it was Kristallnacht. Yeah.

I love history, and I'm a student of history, and at this point, it's like being in a tunnel and seeing the oncoming train and not being able to get out of the way.

Yikes. :c Yup, watching something like that right now sounds additionally upsetting.
(But in Nazi Germany, there were even fewer people who knew being like a a Nazi was a bad thing, right? Seems like it should give you an edge.) (*You, them, us, whatever.)

History teachers can now see firsthand how someone like Hitler rose to power. THey just watched it happen. Scary as hell.
