I made up my first batch of fondant tonight. I tried out the new Americolor gel colors I got from Cakewalk Chicago, as well (”dark pink” - I don’t think I used quite enough to make it very dark, or they mean “dark” as in “not almost white”).

marshmallow fondant is yummy actually.
The old skewl fondant is totally nasty. my ex mom in law wanted to drop it all over my cake and i refused.
i've never worked with it myself though. You'll have to post how it turned out when all done and used :D maybe some pics? :D

Fondaaaaaaant.

Did I ever show you the Star Wars Destroyer Ace of Cakes thing we had at Marcon? I remember eating the back of the ship. And then? Then I was so sugar hazed that I scared the diabetic in the room into asking the people there if they were really sure I was okay. Mmm.

What would it cost to commission a get well cake for someone?

I think I've seen pics of the SW Destroyer from MarCon, though I was not there myself. Mmm, sugar haze.

A get well cake? I imagine just a two-layer round cake with a scroll border and "Get Well Soon" on it? Is there some specific decorations on it? I'd say since it's you, probably $25. Assuming you don't want it on the 16th or 17th because I'm already booked for those days.

That's a gorgeous pink, if your camera and my screen are getting the message across correctly. Was it a tasty pink?

It was quite nommilicious. I found a great recipe that doesn't get it too overly-sweet tasting, and I'm really happy with it.

Only problem I discovered? Pink fades. It's basically "work quickly and keep it out of the light as much as you can." I left it sitting on the table and the light faded it over the course of a day. See my post here:

Wow! That's annoying! I'm glad you found out in early January instead of late May. I hope there's a different type of coloring you can add that won't fade.
