Your Jensen was a wonderful mix of broken and cautiously optimistic, and I enjoyed the way that he couldn't quite keep himself from hoping, even though he thought he knew better than to do it. Jared was such a gentle sweetheart.
Oh, thank you, my dear! It means so much to me that you stopped by to check this one out. I'm doing that flaily-hands thing at your lovely comments. ♥♥♥
That aspect of Jensen's personality you point out was essentially him and me fighting it out on the page. He'd be all, "Hmmm, I'm just a mess. I think it's time to go home now." And I say, "No, Jensen. Wait a few more minutes. Something great is going to happen!" So he'd stick around for another scene and magical things would transpire... and then he'd say, "How about now? Now can I go home? Before I fuck things up for all of us?" And I would MAKE HIM STAY FOR ONE MORE SCENE. etc. etc. Right up until the end. Oh Jensen.
Thank you for this story, it was so good and my god did it play on all my emotions. Aldis giving up being able to play to save Jared brought tears to my eyes but even more so when Joe offered Jensen a chance to get his answers but Jensen realising that all he needed was Jared and the field to see the players get to play. Megan finally seeing what the others were seeing made it even better for me. I really loved how you write Jensen in this, how even though he was emotionally scarred and hurt that he still had that deep lying hope buried inside and that Jared just knew he needed time to realise that it was alright. Thanks for sharing a wonderful story, I'm going to the art post now to leave a comment there also. *hugs*
Thank you thank you thank you. It's just so incredibly happy-making to hear your lovely feedback and how much you enjoyed this one. I'm so glad you gave shoutouts to Aldis and Megan, I had so much fun incorporating them into the story. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you as a reader. THANK YOU AGAIN.
Aaaaaaaah most satisfying. That was kind of like taking a warm bath with lots of bubbles, then wrapping myself in a fluffy dressing gown. So many lovely descriptions too... *happy sigh*
DEI! OMG. I don't even have words! This is so incredible. I feel heartsick for a place I've never been to. This is so visceral and beautifully painted in such a serene way. I simply love your tapestry of words. I've never seen the movie, but I almost don't want to now, because I like this version best! :p LOVED Doc Aldis and his story. Loved loved loved grumpy, recluse Jensen and patient, calm Jared. Ahh! Thank you so much for this. :)
YAYAYAYYYYYY! Thank you, gorgeous girl! I love the phrase "tapestry of words" what an incredible compliment! *twirls*
I have to admit that I was pretty much writing this one focused on readers familiar with the movie, so to hear that it works for you, even when you don't know the source material, is both a relief and a joy!! THANK YOU!
And grumpy!Jensen/sweetheart!Jared are really my favorite flavors, you know? I can't stop writing them! :DDD
Cherie Cherie Cherie Cherie Cherie cheRIE CHERIEEEEEEE *flops around on the couch like a landed fish*
What did I ever do to deserve the precious incomparable treasure that is YOU AND YOUR MAGNIFICENT FEEDBACK???!!!! *more flopping, now with flaily hands*
I'm sorry about the baseball part, but it really was all about stupid sunshine Jared and his little mcgrumplybottom, so I'm glad you were able to endure the sportsball references. :D
I was Jensen and the story was Jared.
*squeals into fists*
Yay Aldis! I can see him so clearly in this part: the wisdom and calmness of the old man and the happy-puppy eagerness of the young rookie. He is both! He would look up into the booing stands at Tiger Stadium and face them down with honor! TEAM ALDIS FTW!! Beth/Aldis OTP (maybe they met up with Kane in heaven and started robbing banks).
Also, I will point out that Jensen's addiction to the Food Network and HGTV is a little Easter Egg just for you. ♥
HE'D ALREADY CHOSEN TO DIE WITH MILO
THIS THIS THIS THIS!!! How much do I love that you
