This is so beautiful, such a sweet, loving lead-in with all kinds of promise, then BAM! the other side of New Caprica right through the heart. The eye...oh, man, that was horrific, and then the personalizing of it in the infirmary. This is the only photograph that he has of her, and in it there is no proof that she is his, that he has loved her, that he is hers. This killed me--so sad that there's nothing real to remember her by at that point.
It was such a relief to get back to their dance :-) Well-done!

I was hoping that the scene with his eye would be as horrific as you experienced it, not that I enjoy disturbing readers, but I feel like it's so important to understand what Saul lost on that planet, physically and more. :(

Yes, and I imagine that he didn't have much once she did pass away either. :( Perhaps a second photo, but not anything more. :(

Thanks for reading. :)

I'll just copy fragrantwoods comment up there. Yes it is so sweet and sexy (you write the best NC secksings) and then AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Saul's eye (yes I was eating while reading this)!! Horrific stuff!! I loved the "you have blood on your hands" line, so chilling!! Poor Laura!! *sniff* Of course you bring it back around to the reunion and the dancing at the end that mirrors the earlier happy times on NC. *sniff* Lovely writing!! Very sweet and angsty all rolled into one fic!!

Sorry for any loss of appetite! :( But NC really was so full of horror for the insurgency. :( Glad that you enjoyed the sensual scenes. ;)

Thanks for reading. :D

A/R has always been such a perfect mix of angst and sweetness, so I'm glad that came through.

Thanks for reading. :)

I love so much about this. The closeness in the beginning. So sexy and loving. Then the horror of holding Tigh's eye in her hand. A wonderfully violent and vivid image. It's such an effective form of torture on Laura too because she cares so much about her people that the tangible proof of their suffering would be awful for her.

The bit about the picture is heartbreaking. Maybe they get more photos together after the exodus.

Then there's the coming home. How their second "dance" is as somber as it is joyful. So perfect for them.

I've always found it difficult to believe that she had been physically or sexually abused on NC, not that I am knocking anyone who interprets her time in the detention centre that way. However, I have no doubt that she was sleep deprived, or starved, or tortured with the death/abuse of her people. For me, I feel like the Cylons would know that this would be a more effective torture, if that makes sense?

Thanks for reading. :)

Those are my feelings about NC and Laura too.

Plus, I feel like the Cylons would be afraid to touch her - given her entanglements with the sacred scriptures, perhaps they feared her slightly? Not sure if that makes much sense, but I've felt like some of the Cylons may have seen her as a deity and perhaps feared that part of her?
