The problem with that is, there are many cases of people, usually men, murdering their current or former romantic partners, and often their children, because of their "if I can't have you, nobody can," or "I won't allow you to leave me" feelings. That obsessive possessiveness is precisely what "love potions" bring about. At least on the TV show Salem they admitted that "love spells" don't create real love, just obsession, and that there could be a downside to that.
