I met all my deadlines for the day, so we went out and sort of celebrated. I ordered a cocktail called Hemingway's Revenge (a reference to Hemingway's Death and the Afternoon-- a champagne and absinthe cocktail that he didn't really invent) that consisted of cassis, champagne, and absinthe. It was delicious, but I only had one.

In some ways, I feel that the (over)reactions to Occupy Wall Street have been more telling than the movement itself. The whole thing is nothing when you look at the history of government suppression of dissent; this sort of this can be and often is much much worse. Here are some works by Marie Čermínová, known as Toyen. I saw these at the Czech Avant-Garde exhibition on view at the art museum here, and I really fell in love with her work. Beautiful and haunting.
