You're correct. (I've done it, in fact.) That doesn't help the OP, however, since she wants to use a MH to transmog a 1H.

AFAIK, most, if not all, of the caster weapons in Mists were made 1H, rather than MH, and they also retroactively made MH fist weapons OH. Why they didn't do that to the old caster weapons, too, I don't know.

They should just make it like with the hunter ranged weapons. 'Oh, you have a gun that you hate the sounds for? Well, you can make it a bow! That's awesome, right?! Wooooo!'

Except Blizzard never makes sense. =/
