Dear Gnomies,

Do... do you get a message when you've been vote-kicked? Not necessarily a reason, but even just a 'you have been removed from the party' message?
Because I think... I think, but I am not actually certain, that I was just kicked from a group for the first time in my WoW career. I have no idea why. We had just killed the second-to- ( Read more... )

It will say, "You have been removed from the group."

Sometimes people vote kick because they want to bring in another guild member, and you're the disposable one.

Blizzard removed that possibility though--you can't invite someone to a dungeon finder group anymore, you have to leave instance group first. Of course it's possible that the other players weren't aware of that.

It's also entirely possible that someone was just in a crappy mood and didn't like the way you jumped around or something... I've seen stranger things happen.

Bottom line is that there's no way for you to know why they did it (I did actually once roll an alt on another server to ask a group member why I was kicked--in my case it went well, we were both calm and level headed, but I don't recommend it. Tends to get emotional.) so your best bet is to shrug it off and move on. It sucks, yes, but it won't ruin your day or play time unless you let it.

I do rather wish Blizz would display the kick reason to the member booted. I know 90% would probably be 'slkfhkaj' or a slur, but even a 'nub heals' would be more informative than nothing at all. I can dig people being cranky and booting out of spite, but I actually really wanted to know if there was a system message about it, as I didn't receive one. If kaelstra is right and you're supposed to, I can console myself that it was just a strange bug and my former group was not composed of buttfaces.

I understand where you're coming from, but I think it'd be more discouraging. You'd see pointless reasons like "useless" (that one popped up in a group I was in yesterday) or slurs, as you said. In 10 kicks you might see a useful explanation you could use for something.

I do think she's right and you're supposed to get the message and the game *has* had lots of strange little bugs since 5.0.4 (I got dismounted by a cliff side in Jade Forest last night and fell to my death =_=), so it's quite possible that you were removed by bug instead of your party mates. Heh, perhaps they're wondering what they did wrong to make you drop like that without a word of explanation. ;)

I was once the member of a guild which would routinely kick randoms before the final boss in order to improve the loot table for guild members. (Let's be frank, you can probably do most dungeons until ~70 or so with a competent three-member group. It's not much of an injury to toss someone overboard.)

I was not a member of this guild for long.
